The Alternative Press Expo is this weekend, October 1^st–2^nd in lovely San Francisco, California.

We’ll basically have what we had at Comic Con earlier this year, namely the trade collection of the first six issues of To The Power Against. Sorry, we do not yet have the single issues of 5 and 6 due to some heavy project work in the land of Day Jobvania. The covers have been penciled and now just need to be colored before the files can be sent out. We’ll let you know as soon as they are up on Indy Planet.

To find us at APE, look for table #656. Basically walk in through the main entrance, go up the stairs to your right and then walk until there is a wall stopping you, because we are in the back corner, henceforth known as The G-D PARTY CORNER.

Carrie and I would like to thank everyone who stopped by and picked up the trade at Comic Con this year. Some of you were even people who had already purchased the fist four issues as singles! To those people, I would like to say: Champs, all of you.

To those of you still eagerly awaiting issues 5 and 6 as single issues, I have not forgotten you and hope you can hang on a little longer. It’s been very busy here in the comics making lair (design freelancing, laundry, commissions, etc…) and I want to make a couple of nice covers to round out the set. They should be available on Indy Planet near the end of the month.

To everyone who has not yet picked up ANY of our books, this is your LUCKY DAY, for right now, this very instant, the first volume of To The Power Against is available for purchase online through our pals at Indy Planet. This book collects the first mini-arc, issues 1–6 in 144 pages of comic goodness. You can even preview the first four issues right here on our site!

We’ve got a few more things to announce before A.P.E. in October, but they are not ready yet. Soon! But not yet. Suspense.

Not only are we going to be there, we are going to be unveiling the long-awaited trade collection of To The Power Against! This trade collects the first four issues PLUS two brand new, just-finished issues, thus wrapping up the first mini-arc for Catalina Jones and her friends. Carrie and I are glad to finally be able to present this and are already working on the next part of the story.

This also marks our move to the trade paperback format instead of single issues. I assure you, this means that production time will be much quicker and you will not have to wait another four years to find out what happens next. The past few years have been a bit of an experiment, and we think we’ve finally found what works best for us. If you have the first four issues already and would prefer issues 5 and 6 separately, I’m afraid you’ll have to wait just a little longer. It was important to us to get the trade completed and there wasn’t quite enough time to get those two issues formatted as singles. We’ll have them up on Indy Planet as soon as we can (as well as the trade itself, for those of you who can’t make it to Comic Con).

We’d also like to thank everyone who has stuck with us so far and hope you’ll keep coming back. We greatly appreciate your support of our own little piece of the comic book pie!

Right! On to other things. Do you like banners? Of course you do. Here is what will be at our table (printed by our good friend and Xi Chen inspiration, Aris).

“Oh my God, just tell me how to get to your table!” you may be thinking. Okay! Here is a map of the area.

Coming in from the front, just head to Lobby B2, take a right and then a left at Aisle 1600. Take that almost all the way to the back; you will notice a steep decline in booth production value—hooray! You made it Small Press. Go between the four mighty pillars and we will be on your right, about halfway down the aisle. If you’re coming in from the Bayside Lobby, the doors basically open into our aisle.

If you survive the journey to our table, here are the things we will have:

• Emogician mini-comics 1, 2 and 3 (assuming Kinko’s cooperates)

In other 2TPA news, Carrie and I have also started page layouts for issue 6, which will be turned into finished pages as soon as the artwork is done for issue 5. All of this should be in your hot little hands by the time Comic Con rolls around. Speaking of Comic Con, we have our table location! We’ll be in the Small Press Pavilion at table M-04. That’s M-04. If you forget, information about our next show is always listed at the top of the site as well as the sidebar (over there »).

Exciting times, we’re getting ready to make our annual trip up to San Francisco to visit Comic Con’s younger, slightly more emotionally balanced sister, Wonder Con. Carrie won’t be there til Saturday morning, so sorry everyone who wants to talk about math and science on Friday, you’re stuck with the “visual” one.

We’ll have the usual: To The Power Against 1–4, Emogician, sketches, robots punching out vague social constructs, etc… We really wanted to have issue 5 ready to go, but missed getting it off to the printers by this much. That’s why we’ll be bringing some mini previews to show off. That means double the fun for Comic Con in July, because 5 and 6 will both make their debut!

You may have noticed that the site looks a little different. That is because I made it look different. I hope you like it! There are still some things to finish up, but I got sick of keeping it all to myself. You may notice a link to the store, but shhh, I’m still setting things up over there. Once it’s done, there will be a fun announcement.

The biggest change is the Books page where you can now view a short preview of each book before going to Indy Planet to purchase. Neat!

We also now have a Conjoined Comics Facebook Page so you can truly, finally, officially Like us, with a capital L. There is also a Conjoined Comics Twitter account, for fun. Don’t forget, you can also see our hijinks on our Flickr Group Pool.

In not-necessarily-comic-related-but-maybe-still-of-interest-to-you news, Carrie got married to her favorite fella last Saturday. Hooray! Congrats! The ceremony included a wonderful Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy-inspired introduction, which many of you will be happy to know, I’m sure.

Meanwhile, I have left The Day Job of five years for freelancing and a much less brutal commute. Sorry to those of you who have enjoyed my Bus Tweets. Also, sorry in advance if tweets pimping my work increase by 500%. (Not really that sorry, though. The cat still has to eat.)

This is the first of two humiliations we’ve got planned this week for our dour conjurer of cheap tricks.

I’m dusting off the Conjoined Comics site and taking on the arduous—but super necessary—task of moving everything to WordPress from Movable Type. Long story short, we were stuck on an old version circa 2006 and couldn’t update due to a couple of plugins vital to our comics display. In internet time, 2006 is about 100 years ago.

Sooo, all of the nuts and bolts (old posts and Emogician comics) are here and fairly accessible. I’ll be updating content and modifying the theme over the next week or so. Don’t hold me to that, though—I’m also elbow deep in To The Power Against #5-6 pages.

The next convention will be Emerald City Comic Con, March 4th–6th. Carrie “Word” Smith will not be in attendance, but I will be set up in Artist Alley at table B-19 mostly just selling sketches and prints. The full team will reunite for Wonder Con in April.

And because I’m not a registered vendor, I’ll have to give it to you gratis. (“That means ‘free of charge’,” explained Al Swearengen, as he tossed back a shot of Scottish rocket fuel.)
